Why Should We Not Light One Diya from Another Diya

Why Should We Not Light One Diya from Another Diya?

Lighting a diya is considered to be of great importance in Hinduism. Lighting a diya signifies the invocation of gods and goddesses. It is believed that lighting a diya not only removes darkness but also brings divine power into the house. It is said in the scriptures that diyas should be lit in the morning and evening. At the same time, many rules related to lighting diyas are also mentioned. One rule in this context is that one diya should never be lit with another diya. In such a situation, let us know from the astrologer why it is not considered appropriate to light another lamp with one lamp.

Lighting a diya with a diya has special importance in ritual science and is considered inauspicious. There are certain beliefs and traditional views behind this, some of which are as follows:

Disrespect: Lighting a diya with a diya is considered a sign of disrespect. It shows that something is going wrong in the religious and social outlook of the person, and it also lowers their self-worth.

Sinfulness: Based on this, it is said that lighting a diya with a diya makes a person sinful, due to which he cannot achieve success in the upcoming tasks.

Religious Tradition: In Hinduism, lighting a diya with a diya is considered a symbol of enmity and mutual opposition, and it is advised not to do it with a good companion.

Personal Feelings: Some people associate lighting a diya with good and bad feelings, and associate it with a particular event or tradition.

Therefore, lighting a diya with a diya should be considered based on the culture, religion, and traditions around you. This can change concerning auspicious and inauspicious actions.

What Happens by Lighting a Diya from Another Diya?

According to the information given in the scriptures, when we light a diya, the fire god resides in its burning flame. A diya lit with a matchstick ignites fire and that fire attracts all the negative energy of the house and increases positivity.

On the other hand, if you light another diya from that diya, then the negativity collected in the flame of that lamp also enters the flame of the other diya. By lighting diyas, one by one, that negativity is not destroyed but keeps moving from one diya to another.

Apart from this, it is also believed that whenever there is a fire element in an object, the same object should not be used to create a fire element in any other object because doing so is considered to be like setting fire to relationships, i.e. creating a rift in relationships. This disrupts family happiness.
